The British Judo Council (BJC) and British judo (BJA) play a pivotal role in organising a multitude of events that cater to various skill levels and age groups. These events not only serve as competitive platforms but also as opportunities for social interaction and camaraderie among members.
At the club level we frequently host training sessions and workshops. These gatherings encourage judoka to bond over their shared passion for the sport while honing their skills. Local events play a crucial role in promoting judo within the community.
Regional competitions and outreach programmes that invite schools and local organisations to participate showcase the talent of judoka and also highlight the benefits of judo in physical fitness and character development. Moreover, they provide an excellent platform for families and friends to come together, fostering a supportive environment for all participants.
At a national level larger competitions and tournaments that attract judoka from all over the UK. These national events are integral for ranking and selection for international competitions.

More
At our judo club, we believe that the essence of training goes beyond mastering just techniques, encompassing the spirit of peace and camaraderie. Sharing skills and experiences with respect and understanding. This club is not just a place to learn judo, we support each other's growth, celebrate achievements, and cultivate a harmonious atmosphere that mirrors the principles of the martial art itself.

Friendships while learning
Our classes are not aimed at results and members are able to learn at their own speed.

Training regularly
Training regularly is essential for all judoka, whether in a dojo, at a gym, or outside with another club or activity.
Consistent training not only enhances your technique and performance but also significantly improves your overall health and fitness.

Avoiding injuries
In judo, avoiding injuries is crucial for both performance and longevity in the sport. One of the fundamental strategies is incorporating a proper stretching routine.
Maintaining a diet with proteins, clean carbohydrates, good fats and essential vitamins play a vital role in muscle recovery and overall health.
Hydration is equally important for optimal performance and reduces the risk of cramps.
Rest is essential for growth and recovery. Making sure you get enough sleep is a key area.
Understanding and respecting one’s limitations is as critical as pushing our capabilities.

Technical learning
Technical learning in judo is a multifaceted journey that varies significantly across individual levels and speeds of progression.
As practitioners advance from beginners to black belts, the focus shifts not just in the quantity of techniques learned, but also on the quality and understanding of each movement.
Beginners may initially concentrate on fundamental throws and falls, gradually building up a repertoire.

Development
Ultimately we are all still growing and learning new and renewing our skills.
Being able to continue learning and growing is one of the wonderful things life has to offer.
The depth of learning changes from person to person shaping each path.

Basics - always basics
The foundation of success lies in the principles of repetition, resetting, learning, and growing.
Technique repetition helps athletes refine their skills and build muscle memory, allowing them to execute moves with precision.
However, it's essential to embrace the idea of resetting; each fall or mistake is an opportunity to assess what went wrong and make necessary adjustments. This iterative process fosters a culture of learning, where judokas constantly analyse their performances and seek feedback.
Ultimately, through this journey of growth, practitioners not only enhance their physical abilities but also develop resilience, discipline, and a deeper appreciation for the art of judo.
